HEALTHY CINNAMON ROASTED ALMONDS
Have you ever tried the cinnamon almonds at Disney? They give them to you in a small paper bag, and they’re so warm. I don’t really remember in which of the disney park I had them but it was in one of those small carts that are all over the park. With that flavor and feeling in mind, the first thing I did when I got home was try and make a healthier version of these roasted almonds I liked so much. I wanted to find a way to be able to eat it on a tuesday morning with no guilt. Aaaand I found it!
Almonds are delicious by themselves. They make for a great base for anything you want to bake. There are so so many recipes with almond flour and people continue to come up with more. I’ve tried a few and they taste amazing. So, let’s talk about almonds. They are delicious, raw as well. Try placing them in the oven for a few minutes, just like that, nothing added to it and roast them. Amazing.
THE COMPONENTS OF THESE HEALTHY CINNAMON ROASTED ALMONDS:
To make these gorgeous roasted almonds healthier that the original version I tried, I looked for small changes I could make in the recipe.
Starting with the flavor. The only thing you need for these almonds, is cinnamon. To make this recipe healthier than the original one, I changed the sugar for natural sweetener. You can use the sweetener you like the most. The one I use is the monkfruit. I think it’s one of the most natural ones without any aftertaste.
The original recipe has a combination of cinnamon and sugar, just like a cinnamon roll filling. The other important ingredient is egg whites, this will keep everything together and create a type of crust with the spices.
TIPS FOR PERFECT ALMONDS:
Baking: I recommend baking them a few minutes before actually eating it. That way, you can enjoy them warm. If you are making a large batch to have and eat throughout the week, just reheat them before.
Storing: The best way to maintain these babies sweet and fresh is keeping them in a dry place and in an airtight container.
Oven or airfryer?: Both options are great for this recipe. Remember the airfryer cooks it faster though!
EQUIPMENT:
Bowl: You will need a bowl to mix everything in.
Spoon or silicone spatula: I find silicone spatulas more comfortable for recipes like this. I feel it makes it easier. But, this depends entirely on your personal preference.
Baking pan: To place the almond in the oven. Evenly spread and don’t forget to move them halfway through.
Oven: Or airfryer! I will put the times in the recipe card.
Measures: Cup measures, or in this case teaspoon and tablespoon measures.
