CARAMELIZED ONIONS
So simple and with just a couple of ingredients! This is the perfect odd on to any sandwich, burger or even a salad!
If you like a bit of sweetness in your food this recipe is PERFECT!
I made this recipe for a barbecue saturday lunch with my family! We made burgers, fries and a few drinks. The amazing combination of arugula, mozzarella, homemade mayo with these caramelized onions made the perfect burger! The only thing I can say was missing was a bit of blue cheese to add a finishing touch!
Start by peeling and cutting the onions from the root down. Cut the halves in thin slices. Try making them all the same size or thickness so they cook evenly.
Over medium/ low heat, add a bit of olive oil and the onion slices. Cook them until they start to look a bit more transparent.
After they reach that point, add the brown sugar and stir until completely dissolved. Add the balsamic vinegar, stir to mix and let it evaporate. Once it’s almost completely liquid free, it’s done!
