CAPPUCCINO COOKIES

CAPPUCCINO COOKIES

This one is for the coffee lovers. Backstory first. Coffee flavored candy has been a bit strong in flavor for me since always. The classic candies that were left on the cake table on birthdays when you were little. I always liked the taste of coffee but that candy didn’t have enough sweetness for me, it was pure coffee. Most of the time when you go from having chocolate milk or yogurt for breakfast to coffee, it is mostly milk with a little bit of coffee. Well, I went straight to the black coffee, I didn’t even go through the cappuccino first. My mom drinks black coffee since forever and obviously as a little girl I wanted to be like her. A coffee drinking adult.

Well, what was this talk about my personal taste about? These cappuccino cookies are all that’s right in the world. The perfect mix of coffee, sweetness and a touch of chocolate to make it just perfect. It has a mild coffee flavor that is just perfect. Now, what I really like the most about these cookies is the shape you can give them. A tiny coffee bean shaped cookie. I thought it was so cute, very cool and different.

Before I keep talking about these beautiful cappuccino cookies, I am going to link a few recipes that might interest you as well.

PARTS OF THIS CAPPUCCINO COOKIES

This is a pretty easy dough to make. It really comes together super fast and you can do it by hand. Also, its a a bit dry. Once the dough is ready, you are going to separate it into small balls and give them the shape of a coffee bean. Shape it into a medium chubby oval and with the back of a butter knife or any knife really, make a line in the middle line. I’m still not entirely sure if it looks like a coffee bean or not, but I still love it.

As I mentioned before, this cookie is a combination of coffee, milk and cacao. The subtle coffee flavor is just ideal. I would even make them to eat with coffee. They are sweet enough that even though they are cappuccino cookies, you can have them with coffee.

TIPS FOR PERFECT CAPPUCCINO COOKIES

The size: We want these cookies to be bite size. In order to get that, I use a teaspoon. It has about 5 ml. With that size, this recipe gives you around 50 mini cookies shaped like coffee beans.

The shape: To shape these cappuccino cookies into coffee beans, you are going to use your hands and a knife. Using your hands give it an oval shape, but not too much. Remember the actual coffee bean, that’s what we want. With the back of the knife, the smooth side, make a mark the middle. And done, cappuccino cookies.

The dough: You have to let the dough rest for a while in the fridge before baking. Once you shape every cookie, you can put them on a plate or on the baking sheet, cover them with plastic wrap and put them in the fridge for 30 minutes. This will help them keep their shape in the oven and come out nice and pretty.

Baking: These cookies do not get bigger in the oven. You don’t need to put too much space between each cookie when baking. About 10 to 15 min in the oven and they are done. After 10 minutes, I open the oven and carefully lift a cookie to see the base. If the base is even a bit toasted, they’re ready.
