BROWNIE CHOCOLATE SUPER SHAKE
A few years ago, these crazy super shakes started to appear everywhere. You know what I mean right? Those gigantic shakes with so many other desserts on top. Let me paint a delicious picture. A red velvet shake with cream cheese frosting on the rim of the glass, red velvet cake crumbs stuck to that frosting and a slice of red velvet cake over that whipped cream over the actual shake. Yes, that type of shake. I bet they do taste amazing, but i’ve always been so intimidated. They are so big and filled with so many desserts that I don’t think I will be able to finish them. Next time I am at one of those restaurants, I promise to order one and just share it with whoever is with me. This chocolate brownie super shake is inspired by that.
With those amazing super shakes in mind and international chocolate shake day coming up, I made my own crazy shake. My idea is making a chocolate brownie super shake. When I visited St. Luis for my cousin’s graduation, we visited a gourmet donut shop. In the menu, there was a “donut shake”. This was basically some vanilla ice cream and a few mini gourmet donuts you could choose. The concept was a bit too much for me but the flavor was amazing. I wanted to do the exact same thing but with brownies, adding some “extremeness” In the decoration.
What makes this chocolate super shake amazing
Let’s start with the base, the ice cream. Choose a chocolate Ice cream that you love on its own. You are going to add brownie to this shake, so choose a simple chocolate ice cream with amazing flavor. If you want to use one with some add on already, choose a good ice cream with brownie bits. Haagen daaz and ben and jerry’s have pretty good chocolate brownie ice creams. If you know of any other ones, let me know.
To this beautiful ice cream you need to add some liquid. This liquid will help the blender turn the ice cream into creamy and drinkable. My first thought was to add some chocolate milk to the ice cream but I think that would be too much. So, some classic whole milk and you are good to go.
Finally, the crazy part of this chocolate super shake. Decorate the inside of the glass with some chocolate sauce and use some extra for the rim and sides of the glass. Stick come chocolate chips to that chocolate suace on the outside. Finally, decorate the shake with whipped cream, brownies and more chocolate sauce.
Tips for a perfect chocolate super shake:
Ice cream: As I mentioned before, the best thing you can do is choose a chocolate ice cream that you enjoy on its own. A simple chocolate ice cream is best. This is the base of your chocolate super shake so make sure you like it a lot.
Decoration: I recommend prepping your glass with the decor before making your shake. The chocolate lines inside, the decoration on the sides and get the other elements ready. Make the shake, pour it into the glass adn add decoration so that everything is cold and creamy when you drink it. You can make some ganache for the chocolate sauce but I recommend buying the hershey’s one.
Brownie: I would to say to make the brownie at home but, there are a bunch of bakeries and places that have fresh, goeey and delicious brownies that you can just buy and use for a recipe like this.
Equipment:
Blender: To make the chocolate super shake in.
Knife: You will also use it to cut the brownies into smaller pieces.
Spoon: In case you need to push the shake out of the blender.
CHOCOLATE BROWNIE SUPER SHAKE
Ingredients
- 3 chocolate ice cream scoops
- 1 Brownie square + extra for decoration
- 1 splash of milk
- Whipped cream
- Chocolate sauce
Instructions
- Decorate the glass with lines on the inside.
- Add icecream, brownie and milk to a blender. Blend till smooth
- Pour onto the glass and decorate with whipped cream and brownie pieces before topping off with more chocolate sauce.
