BAKED SWEET POTATO STICKS

BAKED SWEET POTATO STICKS

I met this beautiful vegetable when I decided to start eating better. There are so many ways of cooking it! You can make fries, mash it, boil it, bake it, anything you want!

Today’s recipe is baked sweet potato sticks that have a semi sweet kind of taste I just love. The secret to this recipe is to bake the sweet potato until the center is fully cooked and the exterior is a bit crunchy, like a french fry.

The truth is, the recipe itself is pretty simple and quick but the baking part of the recipe takes a bit longer. A few spices, a potato peeler and the oven, that’s all you need. This is the perfect side dish for almost anything, barbecues, burgers, chicken, anything really.

EQUIPMENT:

Sheet pan: The great thing about this recipe is that you can make everything in the sheet pan and place that in the oven. No mess.

Chopping board: Peel and cut the sweet potato on a cutting board, so much easier that on a plate.

Potato peeler: This is my favorite kitchen gadget. I use it for everything!

Knife: Any knife will do, choose the one you’re most comfortable with. Remember cut the stick in similar sizes so that they cook evenly.

TIPS:

Sweet potato: I know sweet potato looks different depending on where you live. The important thing is to choose medium sized potatoes that are easier to cut and peel.

Cutting: Make sure to cut the sticks in same sizes. This helps them bake evenly so you don’t have some raw and over baked sticks in the same pan.

Give it time: Since we are not going to boil the sweet potatoes first, they go into the oven pretty hard so it takes a bit more time for them to fully cook.
